Vision & Mission
Area under fish/shrimp culture will be enhanced to 23500 hect. during the Year 2026-27 by excavation of own land, community land, water logged and saline areas.
· The fish/shrimp production will be increased to 2.35 M.T. in the year 2026-27.
· The fish seed production will be increased to 6000.00 lakh during the year 2026-27 at Government Fish seed Farms/Pvt. Hatcheries in the State.
· The fish/shrimp production will be enhanced in fresh/saline water by the use of pelleted feeds and by establishment of the RAS and Biofloc systems.
· Under the Pradhan Mantri Matsaya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), assistance will be provided to the beneficiaries in the shape of subsidy for different Components/ Activities as per the GOI instructions and guidelines for the Year 2026-27.
· Department will also make efforts to establish fish feed mills in the State to facilitate the fish farmers for the use of pelleted feed at the cheaper rates which will also enhance fish productivity.
· The special emphasis would be laid for the skill development of the farmer through training, seminars, workshops, awareness and exposure visit to upgrade their technical skill. It is targeted to provide training to 2800 farmers.
· Department will encourage fish farmers to establish fish seed Hatcheries to meet out the increasing demand of fish seed.
· Strengthening and up-gradation of Govt. Fish Seed Farms to enhance fish seed production.
· Un-utilized Saline/Waterlogged areas will be brought under fish/shrimp culture to generate employment in the rural areas.
· Schedule Castes families will be financially assisted under different components of Central/state scheme to uplift their socio-economic status.
· Thrust would be laid on conservation and augmentation of natural fisheries through ranching fish seed of endangered species in the notified/Reserve water bodies.
· Strengthening of Information Technology for quick retrieval of information.
· Department will also introduce the new fish species like Singhi, Pangasius, Desi Magur, Sole, Pabda etc. in the State as an alternate to traditional fish species like Rohu, Common Carp, Catla, Mrigala and Grass Carp etc.
