Introduction:

Fisheries sector holds a very important place in the social and economic development of the country. It is considered as a powerful source of income and employment generation.Haryana, despite being an agricultural state, is one of the leading states in the field of inland fish production. State ranks second in the country in terms of fish productivity per hectare/per year.

Objective and activities:

Using available community ponds for fish farming.
To provide technical and financial assistance to fish farmers.
To impart training for capacity building and skill development.
Production of quality fish seed.
Reclamation of saline/alkaline land for fish/shrimp farming.
Emphasis on employment generation in rural areas.
To manage and conserve natural fisheries in rivers, canals, drains and other natural water bodies.
